I suppose it depends on where you were raised and the traditions you held as to how you view and celebrate Christmas.

For me, it’s always been the season long preparation of our home – layering lights and decorations, multiple trees, Christmas village, a nativity set or two and so many other small touches. The backdrop of a snowy landscape outside really gets me in the mood to put on a Christmas album, bake some shortbread and string up some lights.

The culmination of all the preparation is Christmas Eve.

By this time, whatever didn’t get done doesn’t matter. It’s now about family time and festivities. A candlelight service at church followed by eats and games and cozy jammies. I love Christmas Eve most of all because it’s like a long sigh after a chaotic month.

It’s for this reason that I’m so excited that we are doing a Market- Eve event this year before my regular.
The idea of the night sky, maybe some snow falling (we can hope) and all of the twinkling lights really just sets the mood. I love hosting and laying out a spread so everything will be presented like you’re going to your Grandma’s house in 1977 and she’s got on her best dress and her fancy shoes. Grandma always pulled out the punch bowl, the fancy glasses , the colourful plates and the best selection of her handmade goodies.

The market eve is for those who want the experience as well as the first dibs on shopping. It’s for the couple who just need a date night or the best friends who want to shop together. Market-eve is all about ambience, smells and feelings. It’s about nostalgia and inspiration.
The displays will be curated to inspire as well as encourage buying complimentary pieces. I love staging and curating vignettes. It’s my passion and Christmas brings out the creativity in me.
